Born (1969) and raised in Finland, studied art in the USA (Master of Arts, Northern Arizona University), since 1994 has lived and worked in Germany as a freelance artist, lecturer, and curator. Her artistic oeuvre focuses on concept-based indoor works and situational outdoor sculptures. Her abstract graphic works are also only seldom restricted to two dimensions. »As an installation artist I’m interested in the wealth of interrelationships that can be created in a walk-in space using visual elements.« Merja Herzog-Hellstén has been a Teacher for Special Purposes at HfG Offenbach since 2017. Alongside teaching she is tasked with developing and expanding the Art Laboratory.
