Vita
Siglinde Spanihel (born in 1952 in Stuttgart), from 1971 to 1972 studied Construction Engineering at KIT Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (formerly University of Karlsruhe), 1972 to 1977 studied Industrial Design at University of Kassel (formerly Gesamthochschule Kassel). In 1977, won the Braun Award for an interdisciplinary project on mobility »Nahverkehrssystem stadtzufuss«, in 1978 the Prinz Ludwig Prize for the design for a gynaecological examination chair. From 1978 to 1980 design and product planner for office interior systems at Steelcase-Strafor (formerly Pohlschröder), Dortmund. From 1980 to 1982 staff member at Institute for Industrial Design, Leibniz University of Hanover. Freelanced on graphic and interior design projects. From 1982 to 1986 Professor at Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada in the Departement de design de l’environnement and taught at ENSCI/Les Ateliers in Paris.
Since 1986, Professor at the School of Design (formerly Product Design department) at HfG Offenbach, 1990 to 1992 Dean, 1992 to 1994 Vice President, 2009 to 2015 Dean for Academic Affairs. From 1992 to 2002 member of the Board of Hessen Design (formerly Design Zentrum Hessen), member of various juries, peer for university accreditations, international lectures and workshops. Member of Deutscher Werkbund, VDID, founding member of Designerinnen Forum.
