Hans Zitko (born 1951 in Hamburg), studied Philosophy, Art History and German Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. He completed his doctorate with a thesis on Friedrich Nietzsche, before working as a freelance writer for numerous publications, including essays and articles in anthologies, magazines and artists’ catalogues. Alongside this activity he held numerous lectures on philosophical and art theory topics as well as planning and conducting conferences on the social and religious implications of modern art. Primary fields of activity: sociology of art, aesthetics, art theory. He holds a visiting professorship in Theory of Perception at HfG Offenbach since 2010. Coeditor of »Imago. Jahrbuch für Psychoanalyse und Ästhetik«.
