Biomorphelia

The painting of Dorothee Diebold (HfG-Alumna) is characterized by a strict concentration on essential elements. The colours are always applied on unprimed fabric and, with a few exceptions, the colours include shades of black, grey and white. With this reduction, the artist has developed a painterly system of conceptual clarity. When viewed, however, an undreamt-of abundance of nuances and forms opens up, which in her most recent works also extends beyond the surface and frame of the classical pictorial format. Dorothee Diebold's pictorial objects thus create a poetic space that, in the constant flow of color and organic forms, also reminds us that painting has always been part of the exploration of the world.
