Jeroen Verbrugge, holländischer Designer und Geschäftsführer bei Flex Development, hat im Wintersemester 2004/2005 im Fachbereich Produktgestaltung eine Gastprofessur inne.

Flex Development ist eines der führenden und erfolgreichsten Büros für industrielles Design und Produktentwicklung in den Niederlanden. 1989 gegründet, ist das Unternehmen mit 22 Angestellten in den Bereichen Industriedesign, Konsumgüter, Verpackungsdesign und Möbeldesign aktiv.

Jeroen Verbrugge, 1960 geboren, studierte an der TU Delft Industrial Design.

Semesterthema

Recently a Japanese company has announced that they have developed a new anti-conception pill for men. In an article in a renowned medical magazine was said that also other companies were very far in the development of this product. In other words there are good reasons to assume that this new product will reach the mass-market within a couple of years.

Assignment:
Design a new packaging and dispense solution for an anti-conception-pill for men. Do not only look at the packaging itself but also integrate the sales formula in the design process.

Design problem:
How can the packaging, the dispense solution and the sales formula of this new male-anti-conception-pill help in the acceptance of this product by the community, the male user and his (female) partner.

Target group:
- Male users between 20 and 40 years old.
- Primary target group are male innovators and early adopters, but the packaging and dispense solution as well as the sales formula should open doors to the rest of the market.
- Income level of the potential user should be as low as possible to achieve a high acceptance level by a large group.
- More then 1 culture and/or nationality; a global (multi religious) design solution.

Deliverables:
- Phase 1: Design, consumer and market analysis, several alternative conceptual design proposals
- Phase 2: Final design proposals of 2 concepts
- Phase 3: 1 design, 1 prototype or model, technical detailing, choice of materials, production techniques, technical drawings, (if possible) 3D CAD, colors, etc.
