The Calculation / Die Künstlersozialkasse
It is only seldom planned, too often it simply happens – you become self-employed. Suddenly, there is a job and the client needs an invoice for it. And all of this during your studies. Amongst other things Ulrike Grünewald is responsible at HfG in the Office for Knowledge Transfer for advisingn students on thngs relating to setting up business. She gives an overview of the first steps in becoming self-employed. In the first part participants find out what is involved and what an invoice should look like.
In the second part students are shown different models for calculating work time. Because that is the most difficult aspect: What am I worth? In addition, the KSK is presented and students findn out how to apply.

Taxes / And other stufft

Tax declarations are said to be rather bothersome. Luckily, there are tax consultants, but they cost money. In the second part of the introductory event students find out more about the consequences of writing invoices, which were discussed in Part 1..What taxes are due? What is the difference between turnover and profit? What costs are tax-deductible? Students discover that you needn't be a conjurer to manage a tax declaration and are familiarized with the forms.
