As an art college of the state of Hesse, the HfG Offenbach practices contemporary and future-oriented teaching characterised by a diverse exchange between the independent, applied and theoretical disciplines. The HfG has two faculties - Art and Design - with approx. 800 students as well as approx. 140 employees and has the right to award doctorates.
The Department of Art is looking for the following to start as soon as possible:
A Scientific Assistant (m/f/d)
(up to E 13 TV-H, full-time 40 hours or part-time (50 %), fixed-term)
The Hessian.AI-funded research project "RAISE" (Research on Artifcial Intelligence in Sound and Musical Expression) aims to explore the connections between AI, sound production and musical expression at the HfG Offenbach. This includes the application and modification of existing ML frameworks and AI tools in the sound domain and the development of new applications, such as interactive and generative systems, VST plug-ins, neural networks for audio classification, processing and synthesis, AI-based generative composition methods, and web-based applications. The aim is to make AI-based sound technologies accessible and accessible for creative production practice, while also mediating between developers and potential users from the creative industry. The research results will be published and integrated into the university's teaching. The project is initially scheduled to run for 8 months. A follow-up application is being planned. The project is affiliated with existing AI research and teaching as well as the AI and robotics laboratory at HfG Offenbach.
The tasks
- Development of AI-based VST plug-ins and software applications
- Research work on existing AI technologies in the sound field
- Carrying out tests and experiments with existing AI applications, checking their potential for creative production practice
- If necessary, modification of existing applications and frameworks
- Participation in administrative tasks within the framework of the research project
Your profile
- University degree at Master's level in computer science, music informatics, computer science, etc., art, design, etc.
- Professional experience in the development of audio software, especially VST plug-ins, preferably at the interface to machine learning, data visualisation, computational design, physical computing, web development, sound art
- Knowledge of programming (C++, Python, JUCE), conception and implementation of digital applications, prototype development, interaction design, rapid manufacturing
- Interest in interdisciplinary work and research
- Basic knowledge of music production and interest in creative and artistic work with sound
- Experience in the planning and implementation of conferences and workshops an advantage;
- conceptual and organisational skills and a structured way of working.
