Mike Bouchet wurde 1970 in Castro Valley, Kalifornien/USA geboren und erhielt seinen Bachelor of Fine Arts 1994 an der UCLA in Los Angeles/USA, wo er bei Charles Ray, Paul McCarthy, Richard Jackson, Chris Burden, Lari Pittman und Robert Heinecken studierte. Künstlerisch war er zunächst in Los Angeles und später in New York City tätig, bis er 2005 nach Frankfurt/Main zog, wo er seitdem lebt und arbeitet.

Bouchets Werke werden seit dem Ende seines Studiums kontinuierlich in internationalen Galerien, Museen und Institutionen ausgestellt. Sie sind in zahlreichen öffentlichen und privaten Kunstsammlungen vertreten, unter anderem dem Centre Georges Pompidou/Paris, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sammlung Francois Pinault/Paris, LVMH Collection/Paris, Städel Museum/Frankfurt, Astrup Fearnley Museum/Oslo; Belvedere Museum in Wien; Jumex Collection/Mexiko-City sowie der Ullens Collection in Beijing.

Zahlreiche Vorträge, u.a. am Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, De Ateliers in Amsterdam, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, der Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerpen, Städelschule in Frankfurt. Bouchet war zudem Gastprofessor an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart 2014 und am Königlichen Kunstinstitut in Stockholm 2015. Er wurde 2014 mit dem 1822-Kunstpreis ausgezeichnet.

Seit Oktober 2019 ist Mike Bouchet Professor für Bildhauerei an der HfG in Offenbach.
