HfG postgrads as trainnes at the IDC International Design Campus


Since the mid-2014, as part of their postgraduate design studies, three sutdents have been at Shunde on the Pearl River Delta south-west of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong - all in the immediate vicinity.
Over a period of nine months the HfG students are doing an internship in the design or development departments of firms with international operations and completing a research project. They receive a monthly payment equivalent to the statutory DAAD rate, a flight allowance and free use of an apartment. The project's aim is to foster and train upcoming designers in handling global deisgn projects.
In spring 2015, Julia Liedtke (currently at HISENSE), Mirko Marchetti (currently at CHINNO) and Douglas da Costa (currently at NIDEA and brains4design) will report on their projects and experiences during the dissertation presentation in Product Desgin.
The project is intended as preparation for the three year master's studies programme starting 2015 in Shunde and Gzangzhou at the IDC International Design Campus. To this end a new building and several thousand square metres of space were designed and fitted out in the last 18 months. There are classrooms, studios, galleries, workshpos and research institutes. The work is scheduled for completion at the end of 2014. As part of its cooperation with Guangzhou University the HfG will also receive studio space for participating instructors from the GXNU School of Design: Director Prof. Huang Jun, Hua Liao and Yun Liang.
