Once again HfG Offenbach will present at the 65th Berlinale International Film Festival (February 5-15, 2015) with productions by and involving our students: The award-winning final-year project film »Richard & Gilbert« by David Sarno will be screened at the »Hessen Talents«, while in two of the films shown in the official Festival short film program HfG students Jonatan Schwenk (stop-motion animation) and Ivan Robles Mendoza (camera) were involved.

At the 65th Berlin International Film Festival Hessen »Talents 2014« will showcase short films by students and graduates from Hessen’s universities for the seventh time. HfG Offenbach is represented in the programme with the dissertation film »Richard & Gilbert« by David Sarno. Supervised by Prof. Rotraut Pape the film won the Hessen University Film Award in October 2014. On 11 February from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Hessen Film and Media Academy (hFMA) will present the program featuring contributions by HfG Offenbach, Kunsthochschule Kassel, RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences to the invited experts in the Cinemaxx

»The old man and the bird«, the film directed by student Dennis Stein-Schomburg (Kunsthochschule Kassel) as his final-year project has been invited to take part in the official short film competition of the 65th Berlinale. The seven-minute short animation film about an old man, who lives a secluded life in a small hut, until a robin bangs against his iced window pane, has its world premier on 10 February, 2015 in the section Generation/14plus.

Since 2008, Jonatan Schwenk has been a student at HfG Offenbach of Electronic Media (Prof. Alexander Oppermann) and Film/Video (Prof. Rotraut Pape). During a guest semester in the Trick Film class in Kassel he animated the part of the bird in the film. His stop-motion animations were integrated into the images created by the Kassel film team around Dennis Stein-Schomburg (director), Christoph Neugebauer (camera man) and Svenja Matthes (set designer).
