Chair Parade (Lehrstuhlparade) at IMM Cologne 2015
On Monday, January 19, IMM Cologne 2015 will open its doors and raise the curtain for visitors to see the first ever Parade of Prototype Chairs. The parade will include three designs from students of Integral Design, supervised by Prof. Peter Eckart.

Countless actions in our daily routines leave behind fragments of digital information, constituting a trail that cannot be erased. The stool will be put in public places and can be carried elsewhere by passers-by. The routes are traced on a Website, and consequently the private route divulged – anonymously, yet publicly. The piece reflects the private in the digital age and networks the non-tangible sphere of data with physical realm.

The chair is injection-molded as a two-dimensional surface or pattern and made into a chair by simple bending and folding. Production technology and materials lend the piece its individual look-and-feel. Thanks to its minimal use of material, suitability for large-scale production, stackability and scant storage space needed it constitutes a revolutionary monobloc seat.

TriLas represents an unconventional approach towards ergonomics. The stool, whose seat resembles a saddle and rests on a Y-shaped connection allowing to move in all directions, encourages the sitter to be active. As such, it offers an innovative sitting experience while encouraging changes in sitting position, which helps prevent permanent poor posture. This progressive approach results in a new design language and form.
