Composer and choreographer COLIN SELF presents an artist talk revolving around his various community-based practices of music and performance. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, SELF ties together an international trajectory of creating platforms for collaboration, conversation, and visibility.

COLIN SELF is a composer and choreographer based in Brooklyn and Berlin. He creates music, performance, and environments for expanding consciousness, troubling binaries and boundaries of perception and communication. His recent work, THE ELATION SERIES, is a six-part sequential opera about queer family and global transfiguration. Last year he released his debut solo record ELATION and recently toured with Radiohead as 1/3 part of the Holly Herndon trio. COLIN has presented work at DonauFestival, The Dutch National Opera, The Hammer Museum, The Kitchen NYC, and HAU2 Berlin, and many other festivals and venues. He's currently an MFA candidate at the Bard Milton-Avery Program and runs a non-utilitarian choir in NYC called XHOIR. COLIN is currently writing his second record to be released on RVNG International in 2018.

BRITTA THIE is a Berlin-based artist whose work engages emerging technologies and the relationship between self and digital representation. She studied fine arts at the Universität der Künste in Berlin in the class of Hito Steyerl and is currently teaching at the HFG Offenbach am Main. In her practice Thie often depicts her own body to examine the meaning of the figurative image in a product-driven society. In recent years she has shown work at Public Art Fund, (New York), Julia Stoschek Collection (Berlin), Anthology Film Archives (New York), Kunst-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin), Auto Italia (London), and had solo presentations at SCHIRN Kunsthalle Frankfurt, Kunstverein Göttingen and SCHINKEL Pavillon (Berlin). Her theatre debut the live Sitcom I’MDB premiered in 2016 at Münchner Kammerspiele and aired in April 2017 on Arte TV.
