Robert Johnson Theorie 75
Suzanne Ciani
Women have been influential to the design and establishment of synthesizers as genuine musical instruments, pioneering the composition and performance of electronic music. Suzanne Ciani bought her first Buchla modular synthesizer in 1970—the rest is not just history, it is our present.
Prior to a rare quadraphonic concert at El Barrio EU, Patrick Raddatz engages in a conversation with Suzanne Ciani for Robert Johnson Theorie, about safe spaces in electronic music, of gender based musical and aesthetical differences in creating and performing this genre, and how the general adoption of electronic music in the early years has shaped her artistic persona.
Followed by: Suzanne Ciani (live performance on the Buchla modular synthesizer)
