New Professor of Sculpture

Mike Bouchet was born in 1970 in Castro Valley, California/USA and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1994 at UCLA in Los Angeles/USA, where he studied with Charles Ray, Paul McCarthy, Richard Jackson, Chris Burden, Lari Pittman and Robert Heinecken. He first worked as an artist in Los Angeles and later in New York City before moving to Frankfurt/Main in 2005, where he has lived and worked ever since.
Since the end of his studies, Bouchet's works have been continuously exhibited in international galleries, museums and institutions. They are represented in numerous public and private art collections, including the Centre Georges Pompidou/Paris, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Collection Francois Pinault/Paris, LVMH Collection/Paris, Städel Museum/Frankfurt, Astrup Fearnley Museum/Oslo; Belvedere Museum in Vienna, Jumex Collection/Mexico-City and the Ullens Collection in Beijing.
He has lectured at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, De Ateliers in Amsterdam, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Städelschule in Frankfurt. Bouchet was also a visiting professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in 2014 and at the Royal Art Institute in Stockholm in 2015. He was awarded the 1822 Art Prize in 2014.
